A network of research project consists of four steps:

Essence®Network Application

The Essence ® Network application implements all four steps. The software features:

  • Online questionnaires can be created. Several well-designed questionnaires are available, which can be freely used or converted.
  • Support of online and offline filling in of questionnaires. The questionnaires can be filled out using an online interface, but can be printed out as well (in this case, the system provides a simple data input interface).
  • Tracing the filling in process with an option of sending reminder emails.
  • The results are constantly generated and with the help of the Presenter module required materials can be  assembled, which can be downloaded in PDF or Word format.
Network research is a modern paradigm: in recent years research has got a great impetus. It turned out that informal connections in a workplace often have a much stronger impact on the organization than the hierarchical relationships. Information, professional knowledge, but also the loyalty and trust spreads along the connections.

What kind of questions network research answers

The following table shows a few questions of a network research questionnaire. For each question one can specify up to four collegues.

1. Who do you think are the most important key people in your company? XY WZ AB

3. To whom would you turn in a personal case?

Those subjects should be investigated in the questionnaires that explore people's impact on each other.

1. Who are those who can motivate you in your work mostly? XY WZ AB
2. Who are those you can rely upon to solve a problem?
3. Who are those who define your group climate mostly?

The questions can be weighted:

From whom you get most information you need and with what kind of quality? XY WZ AB

The most important questions that can be answered with network research:

  • How effective is communication in the organization? Who are the communication hubs? Are people turning to the right people with their questions?
  • Who are those who can work well together? How to set up an effective team?
  • Are leaders and managers in place, do they deal with teh appropriate issues? Are they expounding impact at the appropriate level?
  • Who are the opinion leaders, from whom are the ideas? Who are the key people in the organization?
  • Which are the most defined groups? How they are related to others?

Essence®Network application contains predefined questionnaires for these questions.

Results and evaluation

nagyhaloNetwork research projects carried out at workplaces give multifold information. On this figure colors mark the different departments at a middle-sized firm. The picture clearly shows how departments are placed relative to each other. Ez az ábra egy magyar középvállalat mintegy 200 munkatársának részvételével jött létre, akik arra az egyszerű kérdésre adtak választ, hogy "Kivel van leginkább napi kapcsolatban munkája közben?" Az egyes színek a különböző osztályokat jelölik. Látható, hogy a barnával jelölt Értékesítés kulcsszerepet visz a cég életében, ezért ennek tudatosítása és megerősítése jó stratégia lehet. A pirossal jelölt felsővezetők szinte eloszlanak a szervezetben a különböző osztályokon. Néhányuk feladatprofilját érdemes áttekinteni és megtisztítani a nem adekvát elemektől.
